Privacy policy

The short version

wayvl is a browser tool. Your audio files, cover images and background images are read by your own browser, held in the memory of that tab, and thrown away when you close it. They are never uploaded, never stored on a server, and no one, including me, can see them.

What wayvl does with your files

• Audio you drop in is decoded with the Web Audio API inside your browser.
• Frames are drawn on a canvas in your browser and encoded with WebCodecs on your own device.
• The finished MP4 is created as a local blob and handed to your browser's downloader.
• Microphone recordings, if you use that feature, follow exactly the same path and are never transmitted.
• There is no account system, no login, and no upload endpoint anywhere in this site.

What is collected

wayvl itself does not set analytics cookies and does not run its own tracker. The site is served as static files from Vercel, and Vercel's servers keep standard request logs, which can include your IP address and browser user agent, for security and abuse prevention.

Advertising

wayvl is free and is paid for by advertising. Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• Google and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser data, and general location for the purpose of ad delivery, frequency capping, and reporting.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

• You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from Google appears before personalised ads and their cookies are used, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the same message. That consent tool is provided by Google's Privacy and messaging feature in AdSense.

Local storage

wayvl may keep small preferences, such as your last chosen format, in your browser's own storage. That data stays on your device and is not sent anywhere.

Children

wayvl is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Since wayvl holds no personal data of its own, there is nothing for me to export or delete on your behalf. For data held by Google as an advertising partner, use the Google links above or contact Google directly.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
